There are several reasons why people need artificial eyes or ocular prosthesis. Fortunately, scientific advances now allow individuals who lost an eye to adapt to their often limited vision. A trained eye can create artificial eyes so closely linked to the eye normal, which often go unnoticed. The most common is the loss of eye trauma or injury, but the eyes of many chronic diseases can also lead to eye removal. Five common eye diseases that can ultimately result in the removal of an eye are painful Blind Eye, ocular melanoma, diabetic retinopathy, tumors and cataracts.
Blindness is defined by the absence of light perception. If a person is completely blind, suffering from "no perception of light" or NLP. NLP is often accompanied by pain, which may be caused by several conditions, most often pain associated with increased eye pressure from glaucoma, a common cause of blindness. In these cases, because there is no vision in the eye reaches the eye can be removed and replaced with a prosthetic eye, allowing the victim to a normal appearance and eliminate pain.
Ocular melanoma is the most common form of eye cancer. This can sometimes be corrected by surgery, but if surgery is not vision of success will be lost and the eye may be painful or unpleasant aesthetically. In these cases, remove the eyes may be a good option.
Apart from ocular melanoma are not other types of eye cancer that can lead to the removal of an eye retinoblastoma, which is more common in children.
